Pilot field guide
A pilot's checklist for Canadian fly-ins
Prepare for aviation breakfasts, BBQs and community events across Canada.
Plan with official sources. This listing is shared by the community and is not official aeronautical information. Check the CFS and NOTAMs, get permission where it is required, and call ahead before you fly.
Educational material only: not an operational briefing. Verify all aviation information using official current sources.
Get organizer confirmation
Confirm the event date, time, location, registration requirements and any parking or arrival procedures directly with the organizer.
Review current publications
Check the relevant official aviation publications, NOTAMs, forecasts and airspace information for your route and destination. See official sources for planning for where to look.
Build in flexibility
Fly-ins can change or cancel due to weather or operational constraints. Do not let an event schedule pressure a go/no-go decision.
Support the community
Respect volunteers, follow event rules and share accurate event details to help other pilots discover the gathering.
